  Gateway helped my daughter through detox and rehab as an inpatient for 30 days. After 30 days, she begged them to let her stay longer because she knew she wasn't ready to be released and they bounced her out anyway because they needed the bed. Once they are released, they are not allowed to return, even to get a Dr's release to return to work or to talk to a counselor. They just told her to find an Al-anon meeting she liked and gave her a list of meetings in the area. The meds they had her on were discontinued suddenly and immediately because they wouldn't send any home, nor would they give her a prescription. She was told to see her regular Dr. How many addicts have a regular Dr? Therefore, she couldn't get in to see one as a new patient and was without the meds for over a month. You can't just stop taking psych meds suddenly like that. She lost her job because she had no release to return to work and went into a depression due to sudden withdrawal of psych drugs and ended up relapsing 6 months later. This is Gateway in Collinsville, IL. Is that how most rehabs work? You can't expect them to stay clean if you just throw them to the wolves after 30 days, homeless or not.
